PROFESSION & EXPERIENCE :

Journalism

• Joined “Matrubhumi”in October 1961 continued till March 1986.
• Editor “Swarajya” Oldest daily of Bhubaneswar 1986 to 1993
• Worked for “current”English weekly from 1970-1978.
• Worked for “National Herald” English daily from 1972-80
• Worked as Orissa Correspondent for Bengali daily “Aajkaal” from 1993 to 2016
• State level accredited journalist from 1966.

Feature writing

• He has shown a special dimension on feature writing in oriya with a language which has been followed by many more feature writers of the state.Write features in different news papers in the state in various subjects starting from Politics to bureaucracy, culture to literature in most impartial way without fear or favour.His most outstanding features are in Prajatantra 1990-92, “Muktabichara” in Sambad from 1993-2002 and Kholabichara in Dharitri from 2002 to 2011.Samaja from 2011 to 2016
• He is the only journalist in the state to write column every week from 1990 on different subjects beginning from politics to bureaucracy , economics to industry with data, figure authentically which till date has not been contradicted by any body in the state.
• Attended many National and International seminar inside & outside the country.

PRESTIGIOUS ASSIGNMENTS :

• Elected unanimously for the post of All India President of National Union of Journalists (India), the only Oriya journalist to occupy this prestigious position (1990-1993).
• Worked as member Presidium in SAARC Journalists’ Conference, held at New Delhi in November 14^th, 15^th & 16^th
• Member Governing Council of School of Journalism & Communication, New Delhi from 1990-2016.
• Member Governing Body C.V.Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar
• Member, Eastern Zone Film Censor Board (1990-1996)
• Chairman, Board of Studies of Journalism, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar (2000 to 2005)

• Felicitated as the most dynamic journalist & Writer by Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh in its Convocation at Kolkata, Rabindra Bharati University Auditorium in January, 1992 (Rs.10000.00).
• Felicitated by various institutions of the country including Gurukula Biswa Vidyalaya, Haridwar in September, 1990.
• Recipient of Justice Raj Kishore Das award (Rs.25000) as an outstanding journalist of Orissa in the year 2000

LITERARY ACTIVITIES:

Well known writer in Odia language with 22 short story collections including one in Bengali language, 21 books on criticism entitled “Mukta Vichara”and “Khola Vichara” , 6 novels, 2 children short story collection and 5 translations.He is the only Oriya writer who writes short stories and novels based on sports subject.His short story collection Aneswata Run, Chhanda Patana and novels Nisiddha Prema and Agyanta Basa based on cricket,football and atheletics are only of its kind in Odia and perhaps he is the only writer who writes on life & activities of Journalist on story form.
